![]() Just to clarify: my problem is in the "check Coolant Level" warning that comes on no matter what the level of antifreeze in the overflow reservoir. This could be that the vehicle is towing or carrying a heavy load or that the vehicle is being driven fast with high engine speeds (RPM). This could be due to or a combination of: The engine is working too hard. I may have done a faux Pas by inserting my problem into this thread from 8 months ago, if so, sorry :doh. The red engine coolant warning light means that the coolant fluid is too hot and that the engine is overheating. Current mileage on car is 138,000 but the engine it'self has only 90,000 (thats another story) we've just been living with this "Check Coolant level" warning ever since, I'm just getting tired of it. probably within a week of the radiator failure that happened 6 months ago. The check coolant level light comes on every start up and shutdown, even though the fluid level is above the kalt line- even lapping at the radiator cap.Ĭhanged the termostat right after the radiator. Since the check coolant light comes on every time we start the car, whether it has been sitting over night with temps in the 30's or at the grocery store with the car at operating temps. The fix was to replace the radiator, but I overheated the car enroute to the house cause I couldn't get enough water into the system. This I know cause I was able to reconnect the hose to the fitting that had only about 1/4 inch left connected to the radiator. Exterior: Escalade Handles, Front windows tinted to match the rear, painted bumpers & mirrors. My last gasser use to come on all the time then tap it ant it went out. Nope it wasn't the hose clamp but the plastic nipple that the upper radiator hose connects to. Just tap on the tank and see if it goes out. All the coolant leaked out due to this break. ![]() When I got to the car there was no coolant anywhere to be seen as the radiator broke about 3 hours beforehand. I'll answer your questions as you laid them out. You have a bad waterpump or thermostate that could cause the hose to blow. Your resevoir aka radiator cap is not holding any pressure, thus causing your coolent to boil and this might cause your hoses to blow.ģ. I think you have a bad seal on the coolent sensor (which will cause coolent to leak out and also display the dreaded "Check Coolent")Ģ. Here's my basic solution, that could or could not be the right cure for your issueġ. The reasons, I ask those questions because I want to make sure your problem is only a leaking coolent hoses. Third, Did you have your mechanic pressure test the radiator cap and the entire coolent systems?įourth, when the last time you changed your Thermostate and Water Pump? Also, what's your current mileage? Second, Are you sure it was that hose clamp came loose, thus causing you to loose coolent? If no, then again, how much would you say leak out? First, How much coolent did you see on the ground? Was the A/C on? If yes, then its from your condenser and is normal.
